Men as well as women, tend to hold an image in their minds that is frankly, unobtainable. Personally, I choose to gauge my standards based on these more tangible criteria.

 

Critique:  This article written about a subject that many people have to deal with on a daily basis.  It makes you think.  Being realistic is sometimes hard when you have the ideal self in mind.

 

Dangerous Methods of Weight Loss

 

There are many ways in which a person suffering from an eating disorder can display symptoms. Product abuse, such as the prolonged use of diuretics, diet pills and ipecac syrup are ways some individuals suffering from eating disorders lose weight. These products do not work to lose weight and this fact often results in their abuse.

 

Critique:  It could be difficult to distinguish which methods of weight loss are dangerous to your health.  This is the case especially if you don't have a science background.  I can't believe some of the things that people do to lose weight.

 

Eating Disorders Bulimia and Anorexia

 

Article explores two common eating disorders, anorexia and bulimia and reviews brief tips for treating them.

 

Critique:  I'll admit it, I do not know much about eating disorders or how to treat them.  To me they are kind of a mystery.  This article tells the basics as well as some methods for treating them.

 

Too Lazy to Diet 

 

Too lazy to diet? Do you have a lot of weight to lose, but just don't have the willpower to commit to a strict diet and sacrifice your lifestyle? Fortunately, there is a virtually idiot-proof solution for people in just your situation: the calorie shifting diet.

 

Critique:  Another diet which has a specific menu to use for yourself.  I find this seldom works because there is different tastes for every individual.  A diet is also different for different ethnicities.  The good news is this may be the diet for you?

 

Herbal Supplements and Colon Cleansing - Are These Things Necessary for Good Health? 

 

Are herbal supplements right for you? Herbal supplements are becoming more and more popular these days. However, herbal supplements may be risky for certain individuals. Do you really need to clean out or "detox" your colon? Let us take a closer look at herbal supplements and colon cleansing. Then you decide for yourself, along with your doctor, what is right for you.

 

Critique:  I wouldn't say dietary supplements are "necessary" for everyone but I would say they can definitely help for some people and may be necessary for some people.  This article only briefly touches on colon cleansing and I completely disagree with her take.

 

The Role Of Physical Exercises For Pregnant Women

 

Pregnancy is a natural process involving changes in the women's body and also in their behavior and lifestyle. Even though pregnancy is not a disease, it requires a special attention.

 

Critique:  When I read "Even though pregnancy is not a disease, it requires a special attention," I chuckled a bit.  This article does not fit in with my experience with training pregnant women.  Pregnant women can perform most resistance training exercises, just not to full intensity.  It helps ease the birth and aid recovery.  Heavy weights, Valsalva (straining) maneuver and lying supine (flat on back) exercises are not to be done though.
